This weekend: End of hibernation comedy party, chili smackdown, swing-dance fest

6:30-11:00pm:tap that! for unicef‘ benefit supports access to clean drinking water worldwide. free appetizers, open wine bar 7-8pm, $3 brooklyn beers, more. $10 admission includes a free drink. vaudeville park (williamsburg).

7pm (thru 3/27): park slope’s ride brooklyn bike shop kicks off a weekend of repair, maintenance and nutrition clinics with a ladies night. 468 bergen st (bet. 5th + 6th aves).

7:30pm doors: kurt braunohler is still shaking off the winter blues with the flu, but we’re very excited to have kristen schaal (flight of the conchords, the daily show, ‘hot tub’) host the skint’s end of hibernation comedy party, featuring dave hill, adam wade, brooke van poppelen, more. plus, $2 oaxaca tacos and $1 robicelli’s mini cupcakes. followed by a happy house after party. bell house, $10.

SATURDAY

11am: grillin’ on the bay, nyc’s only sanctioned bbq contest, takes over sheepshead bay. the free-to-compete chili smackdown awards $100 to the top stew. bbq, beer, more available for purchase. $10 admission gets you all-you-can-eat chili.

12:30pm: protest the future slaughter of geese in prospect park with other like-minded activists and politicians at ‘hands around the lake.’ free.

4pm: sheri eisenberg (the food lovers’ guide to brooklyn) hosts brooklyn flea founder eric demby and flea food vendors from asiadog, people’s pops and whimsy + spice at bpl, free

7pm-4am: dance for japan fundraiser at greenpoint’s trophy bar. $3 beer al night, $10 admission includes a raffle ticket (prizes from surface to air, united nude, le comptoir, more).

8pm: break out your gatsby-era best for gemini + scorpio’s 3rd annual swing house, featuring authentic vintage-era bands. rsvp for greenpoint location. $10-20.

SUNDAY

2pm: the muppet vault series presents classic, rare and unreleased muppet, sesame street + jim henson works. today: superheroes! booze, trivia, prizes! bell house, $8.

ALL WEEKEND

11am-7pm: who says pure breeds are best? the 2nd annual brooklyn mutt show comes to the lyceum. most nutritionally advantaged, softest ears, best snooki look-a-like, more insanity! free to watch, $25 to compete.
