This weekend: Bklyn Designs show, Cheryl dance party, zoo fleece fest

6:30pm:
The Brooklyn Food Coalition throws their first birthday bash with Diet for a Hot Planet’s Anna LappĂ©, djs Nickodeumus and Sabo, local food + booze, more. Food + 1 drink included with admission. 388 Atlantic Avenue, $15-50 suggested donation.

7pm: Literary-themed t-shirt maker Novel-T celebrates the release of 10 new designs (Emily Dickinson, Kurt Vonnegut, Jay Gatsby, others) with readings by Richard Grayson and David Goodwillie, a Wii home run derby, beer and Cracker Jacks, more. Powerhouse Arena, free (rsvp).

8:30pm: Tonight’s “Nerd Nite” features presentations about (almost) everything you wanted to know about The Large Hadron Collider, the history of Governors Island and bloopers of animal dating (!). Galapagos, $10.

SATURDAY
12-4pm:
BAM throws a block party to celebrate the groundbreaking of its new Richard B. Fisher Building dedicated to arts, education and community programs. With performances (including So Percussion), food vendors, plant giveaways, more. Ashland Place, Free.

10:30pm-4am: After the last Cheryl dance party, our friend locked her keys in her car, tried to jimmy the lock, insisted on walking home alone in shooort shorts and tube socks, but finally listened to reason by calling a car service. Bell House, $5 before midnight, $10 after.

SUNDAY
1pm:
Visit the graves of famous moms at Green-Wood Cemetery’s Great Women tour, $10.

ALL WEEKEND
Cute overload! Watch alpacas and sheep get their annual haircuts while you learn about weaving, knitting and spinning at the Prospect Park Zoo’s Fleece Festival. Free with zoo admission ($3-7).

Local designers and manufacturers of furnishings, lighting and accessories convene at St. Ann’s Warehouse for the 8th annual BKLYN DESIGNS show. Exhibits, demos, discussions, after parties, more. $15.
