You may be feeling a lot of anxiety going into tonight’s final presidential debate, and that’s completely understandable. Presidential debates are both serious and consequential, and in this election cycle one orange-haired outcome is truly dire.
That’s why we created our favorite coping mechanism, the Brokelyn Debates drinking game (which we’ve updated for the final round). You might remember our game from the last election between O-bummer and Mitt Zombie. Everyone knows that politics is better when you’re tipsy, so why not make it official with a few rules and regulations that’ll help you deal with everything that comes out of anyone’s mouth tonight?
Unlike the debate itself, nothing you do in this game is going to affect who becomes our next president. The game is fully playable and within your rights to modify if you start vomiting halfway through. Print out this post or pull it up on your smartphones to play during the debates, either at one of these watch parties in BK or on your very own free stream at home. Cheers to democracy! (more…)
Once more into the breach: go ahead and down a few drinks while watching the final debate on Wednesday.
Finally, after what feels like a campaign that has lasted since before most of you were born and will still drag on until most of us are dead from exhaustion/rising sea levels/Trump internment camps, we have reached the presidential debates. The final debate of this election goes down Wednesday Oct. 19 at 9pm, and it should be a hell of a blood sport: it’ll either be Hillary Clinton’s chance to prove that she’s the only actual adult running for president who has at least read one or two books about international politics, or the chance for everyone in the nation to collectively face palm while thinking “I can’t believe she’s really going to blow this.” Either way, being out and about among your fellow Brooklynites with a drink or two or 13 in hand is recommended.
Here’s our roundup of bars showing the debate on Wednesday, including bars with drink specials, debate bingo and free Cheez-Its (because of the orange guy). Most are also showing the subsequent debates, and all are free. We’ll update the list as more roll in too. And don’t forget to bring our Brokelyn debates drinking game with you too! (more…)
Last night, the world stood wide-eyed in front of their television screens as Sec. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump took one another on in the first of many presidential debates that may help to determine the outcome of November’s election. The sane ones among us crossed our fingers that nothing would catch Hillary off-guard. We prayed that Trump would manage to cram enough stupidity into a 90-minute segment to put the rest of us at ease.
Sure enough, Trump garbled a bunch of stuff about 400 lb. hackers, claimed that stop-and-frisk was a “wonderful thing,” and made a spectacularly sexist closing remark about Hillary Clinton, saying “She doesn’t have the look” to be president.
Following the debate, former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani was approached by reporters to answer for his BFF’s comments in the debate. Elite Daily‘s Alexandra Svokos patently asked Giuliani whether Trump, who owns the Miss Universe pageant, harasses women and has a number of rape allegations to his name, is a feminist. You can watch Giuliani’s cogent response above. You can also pour acid into your own eyes, you know, either/or.
