Does your latte art have people so impressed that they don’t even drink the coffee you give to them, they just stare at it with tears in their eyes? And then is the coffee really awesome also? If so, it’s time to step up to the big time of the coffee serving game, because Gorilla Coffee is hiring baristas for its new store on Bergen Street set to open later this month. For all you folks with discerning coffee palates who can barely stomach those bottles of sickly sweet Starbucks’ to-go Frappuccino, you’re about to get a brand-new alternative. Park Slope caffeinated mainstay Gorilla Coffee is introducing its own to-go cold brew containers on June 14. The 11-oz. cartons will sell for about $4 in Union Market, Whole Foods throughout the Northeast,  in addition to the Park Slope store. Co-owner Carol McLaughlin said the idea to make it came from her frustration at not being able to find a decent cup of joe while on her frequent travels.

“I don’t need to go where good coffee is,” she said. “I take it with me.” (more…)

Happy Bike to Work Day! Did you do it? I tried, but the vehicle traffic between my bed and the desk in my bedroom was a bit more intense than usual today. Did you encounter the existential woe of working in a part of the city where there’s just no where to park your damn bike, like Conal did? The oppositie seems to be the case here in Brooklyn, where new on-street bike parking racks have been popping up in different neighborhoods. We spotted one in Fort Greene on Wednesday; yesterday the DOT installed a set in front of Gorilla Coffee on Fifth Avenue. Where once there was a vehicle parking space, you can now eight or more bikes. (more…)
