Sorry Boots, your revolution is in another castle. via Facebook

You know, usually Monday comes around and I’m all glum and tell you guys to enjoy the night in spite of the fact that it’s Monday. Screw that today though, holy crap did you see Jon Stewart hit John Cena with a chair last night? Attack the week like you’re making a vicious and unexpected heel turn, starting by going out and having a great time at one of these events pulled from the Brokelyn Event Calendar. (more…)

Well, it’s Monday again, but there’s a piece of good news to come along with it at least. The good news is that it’s supposed to be a hot one today. Embrace the hot one, hold on to the muggy weather and the sweat, beause soon you won’t have it anymore, you’ll have sweaters and heavy coats instead. Sorry, didn’t mean to be a downer, because other than the heat, you have all these great things to do tonight courtesy of the Brokelyn Event Calendar. (more…)

All right all right all right, free movies

Welcome to the working week, I know it don’t thrill you, I hope it don’t kill you. Elvis Costello, everybody! Uh, anyway, yeah, it’s Monday and no one’s happy about that. It’s my sincere hope that Monday itself doesn’t kill you, and that nothing else does today. Also that you find some kind of thrill from one of these things to do I found on the Brokelyn Event Calendar. (more…)

Grab your bestie and your most pastel pastels, and go see some outdoor movies

The temperature is only getting higher, you’re sweating more and your brain feels covered in a sticky film that makes critical thinking all but impossible. You might think you feel like that because you’re in love, but really, it’s summer. And nothing is better in the summer than getting together with some friends, putting down a blanket, fighting off other people encroaching on your blanket space and watching a movie outdoors. Where to do it though, and which movie to see? With this handy guide of all the Brooklyn outdoor movies this summer, you’ll always have the answers to those questions ready. At least if you keep this page open on your spacephone all the time or something. (more…)

You’ve already got opportunities to watch outdoor movies in parks and in bars this summer, but seeing as how it’s beach season, maybe you want to be able to both go to the beach and see a movie and ride a roller coaster n the same day. In that case, thank your lucky stars that Flicks on the Beach will be returning to Coney Island this summer with another killer lineup of favorites both new and old. At least if you consider “old” to be movies made in 1984 to be old (which please don’t do that because it would make us feel old). (more…)

Movies on the beach means everything is awesome. via Facebook

Paying for movies (or even Netflix, really) is so unnecessary over the summer. You may not enjoy the free air conditioning, but bringing your own snacks and sitting in the warm NYC breeze while watching that movie you kept meaning to see is one of the best parts of a New York Summer.

Speaking of all that, this year’s fourth annual Flicks on the Beach lineup, Coney Island’s free outdoor film festival, has finally been announced! Cool off (and sing along) with Frozen, enjoy summer classics like Dirty Dancing (try and carry a watermelon down to the screening), and vote for the audience choice film on August 18. (more…)
