Bushwick Open Studios is just barreling towards us now, and with all the awesome events, open galleries, performances and other neighborhood art-related madness going down there this weekend, it might seem a little overwhelming. Luckily, our friends over at Bushwick Daily have been hard at work putting a guide together to help you navigate BOS, and they’ll be distributing print copies all over the neighborhood this week. Sure, Bushwick might be the anointed Neighborhood of Art right now, but don’t think the only artists in Brooklyn live off the L train. Gowanus has its fair share of artists, too, and they’ve been holding their own Open Studios events for the past decade and a half: tonight, the Bell House is hosting a free kickoff party and meeting for GOS, and they’re inviting everyone to show up and participate. Guess this weather’s getting everyone geared up for the next season! Everybody’s favorite end-of-spring Brooklyn art series, Bushwick Open Studios, is now open for registration, and they’re asking neighborhood artists interested in opening their studios to the gawking masses to submit their proposals by April 27th if they want to be included in the print program (online-only registration is open through May 30th). If art-gazing’s your thing—even a little—then this weekend’s your Christmas, New Year’s and July 4 rolled into one. Today through Sunday, the Atlantic Avenue Artwalk and Bushwick Open Studios, two of Brooklyn’s biggest displays of its thriving creativity, are taking over their necks of the woods. Whether you’re part of the scene, have a friend who’s part of the scene, or you met someone at a loft party once who dressed like he was part of the scene, get out there.
