This is the twentieth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week we spotlight Beer Book newcomer Berry Park, whose excellent rooftop views inspired us to hold our nextBrokelyn BeerUp on Thursday at 7pm! Come meet and drink with your favorite budget bloggers on a sunny summer roof.
BERRY PARK 4 Berry St. at n. 14th St
What it is: Open-air beer garden vibes brimming with groups and the greatest roof deck of the entire northside of Brooklyn. (more…)
This is the nineteenth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week we spotlight a Beer Book newcomer, Macri Park, a gem of a bar/lounge tucked between less-chattable Barcade and Union Pool.
This is the seventeenth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week we visit a Beer Book newcomer, The Narrows. Perched in “Bushwick,” “East Williamsburg,” (or “whatever”), this long-styled drinkery is built around its copper bar, and pours out into the garden. It’s also the site of our next BeerUp (meetup + beer) this Thursday!

What it is: In a time when “1930′s Speakeasy” is becoming a Brooklyn bar genre, The Narrows delivers everything you would want: funky, great drinks, and just crowded enough to have an excuse to move closer to your date (or talk to the guy on the barstool next to you). (more…)
It’s a great week if you’re a Brokelyn reader who loves beer, and an even better one if you were lucky enough to nab a 2011 Brokelyn Beer Book: we’re hosting our second BeerUp (meetup + beer) at The Narrows in Bushwick on Thursday! The BeerUp is a chance to get together to have some boozy fun on a school night and revel in some spring-enabled patio drinkin’. The Narrows, which a Yelp reviewer describes as “Sexy. Sophisticated. Mysterious,” specializes in microbrews, custom cocktails and a lovely shot-and-a-beer special featuring jalepeno tequila (stay tuned for a full Bar of the Week feature tomorrow). Team Brokelyn will be there from 7pm until question mark (at least 11, but probably later). Come join us and use your Beer Book coupon, or just come say hi and have a drink with us! And stay tuned for more BeerUp events featuring our Beer Book bars throughout the year.
Brokelyn BeerUp at The Narrows (1037 Flushing Ave. at Morgan stop) 7pm Thursday May 5. We’ll be the ones in the Brokelyn t-shirts!
This is the sixteenth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week we return to another old favorite from Beer Book 1: The Sackett, Park Slope’s cozy speakeasy and a home to many Brokelyn-friendly events.
This is the fifteenth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week we return to an old favorite from Beer Book 1: The Bell House, home to some of Brooklyn’s most exciting music, comedy and everything-in-between events.
Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal, two regular faces at The Bell House
What it is: What is it not? The front bar is fun enough on its own, but the back is where the action lives: it’s a concert hall, wedding venue, foodie event space, comedy arena, dance club and much more. (more…)
This is the fourteenth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week put the spotlight on Bed-Stuy’s Black Swan, a new entry into the growing Bed-Stuy bar scene that’s no one’s evil twin.
What it is: Northwest Bed Stuy’s first legit gastropub, Black Swan manages to impress with its decadent design, but follows through on the comfort factor with its friendly neighborhood-bar mentality. (more…)
This is the thirteenth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week we turn our attentions to The Gibson, an amusement-filled beer parlor to save you from the Williamsburg main drag craziness.
THE GIBSON 108 Bedford Ave. at N. 11th St., Williamsburg
What is it: An occasionally low-key respite on the edge of Bedford Avenue with a love of craft beers.
Why we love it: It’s less scene-y than most everything else on that street: just a place to grab a brew and kill some time on the foosball table. (more…)
This is the twelfth in our series on the venues featured in the second Brooklyn Beer Book. This week the spotlight is on the Brooklyn Ice House, where the friendly Red Hook waterfront vibe is in full effect.
