Stage a stuffed rebellion at next weekend’s Rogue Taxidermy Fair

It’s not a party until the bedazzled piglet shows up. At least, that’s what the people throwing the Rogue Taxidermy Fair would like you to think. Admittedly, chilling with preserved animals can feel a bit off-putting, but we always thought winged monkeys were more bad-ass than scary and we’d love to see one in real life. Embrace the whimsically macabre by checking out the Rogue Taxidermy Fair on October 5 at 3pm at the Bell House (149 7th Street, Gowanus).

The Rogue Taxidermy Fair celebrates the release of artist Robert Marbury’s book on rogue taxidermy, Taxidermy Art. Buy your $10 tickets here or cough up $25 for a ticket that includes a copy of the bookKeep in mind that you’ll be in the presence of taxidermy royalty so have your book signed when you have the chance.

Part Frankenstein part art, rogue taxidermy is not your usual stuffed deer. Both Marbury and his book will make an appearance along with vendors, artists, and the Lucky Chops Brass Band. Oh, and did we mention that there will be a live taxidermy demo? Not only can you gawk at all the art, but you can actually learn how to make your own stuffed squirrel! Homemade Christmas gifts are cute, right?
