Relive the best night of your high school life at adult prom

It’s been a while since we’ve worn a fancy dress, shotgunned Malibu rum on a party bus and thrown up on the floor in front of a chaperoning science teacher. But it looks like the Fates are giving us a chance to relive the magic once more, because Williamsburg’s kicking off the summer with a prom night.

That’s right: on May 30th, the Knitting Factory is holding a prom for us grown people who stubbornly refuse to admit it’s no longer cool or sane to drink punch spiked with Everclear. Ugly retro formalwear is encouraged — if you’ve been stocking up on teal-colored taffeta for some reason, now’s the time to break it out —  a photo-staging area will provide ample opportunity to document that complicated hairdo you’d really rather forget about, and there will even be a crowning of the prom king and queen, though no word yet on whether Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook (or, in fitting with the 1980s theme, the Pretty in Pink crew) will make an appearance.

Naturally, a 1980s tribute band called The Ronald Reagans will provide the throwback tunes, and tickets cost $12 for singles, $20 for couples, so start coming up with a creative way to ask your date now, folks, because this is a NIGHT TO REMEMBER.
