Don't be a loner/rebel. Bike over to free Red Hook movies with a friend this summer!

Have you loaded up your summer calendar with all these rad happenings listed on our free summer events page yet? There’s already loads of free music and movies, but here’s another big one to keep an eye on: the Red Hook Summer Film Series last night released its schedule of free outdoor movies, which start July 12 and include such family popcorn favorites as The Karate Kid (Macchio version, of course), The Iron Giant, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and … Highlander. Popcorn is available for $1 a bag and other local food vendors will be at the waterfront site. See the full schedule and details below.

Seating for the Red Hook Summer Film Series begins at 8pm and the movies start at 8:30pm, every Tuesday from July 12 through Sept. 13, at Valentino Pier in Red Hook.

July 12: Men in Black

July 19: Bring it On

July 26: Lords of Dogtown

August 2: Wall-E

August 9: The Karate Kid (1984)

August 16: The Fast and the Furious (2001)

August 23: The Iron Giant

August 30: Pump Up the Volume

September 6: Highlander

September 13: Red Hook’s Choice: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

In case of rain, movies will be shown at Fort Defiance, located at the corner Dikeman and Van Brunt streets. Check the film series site for a rain call by 6pm each day.
