Summer’s big humid hug is wrapping around us tighter and tighter, like a large friend who doesn’t know her own strength. Don’t complain about that part, instead, take advantage of the great things it means, like being able to sit in the Long Meadow in Prospect Park and watching movies without paying a single cent. That’s right, Prospect Park has free summer movies for you to see this year too.

As we know, you can already camp in the park this summer, which is really cool and you should definitely try to get in on. If you miss out on it (or even if you get it), at least there are free movies for you to enjoy, courtesy of the Borough President’s office. And no, he’s not showing adaptations of your landlord horror stories, because that would be weird and creepy.

Instead it’s four family-friendly movies on Wednesdays, with pre-movie entertainment starting at 7pm and the movies themselves starting after sunset.

July 22: E.T.
July 29: Where the Wild Things Are
August 5: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
