Now Hiring in BK: MTV News, Mast Brothers and more!

First up on the list we’ve got a sweet job that requires you to know all things fashion, to keep up with all of the latest trends, and use this knowledge to pay your rent on time. So basically, to be a New Yorker. Specifically, you’ll be being a New Yorker at MTV News, where they are currently hiring on an Editorial Assistant for their Style desk. That’s right, you’ll be walking through Kurt Loder’s hallowed halls, bringing people everything they need to know about accepting “fierce” as a lifestyle. The job only has vague requirements, such as a knowledge of social media and exclusive GIF-based communication, and involves nearly limitless access to all the newest makeup and accessories, so if this doesn’t sound like a dream job to you, I hate to break it to you, but you might just be basic.

Next on the list is a job at that most Brooklyn-y of Brooklyn businesses: Mast Brothers Chocolate is hiring on a Retail Manager to run their flagship store. Yes, that means that you now have a chance to work at this most-immaculately-designed and hirsute temple to all things made small-batch. I would go into more detail here, but I’m telling you you could work in a chocolate factory, so if that hasn’t sold you yet, then I don’t really know what else I can do. The job requires some experience, so if your biggest complaint at your last retail job was “not enough candy bars”, then applying here could be the answer to all of your problems.

Food writing is a tricky business, in that you usually end up spilling decadent sauces and amazing wines on that notepad you were using. If, however, this sounds like a problem that you’re okay with having, then here’s your “in” to the industry: StarChefs.com, the restaurant world equivalent of Us Weekly, is hiring on an Editorial Assistant to help them spread the gospel of gastronomy. The job involves a fair amount of writing, editing and interviewing, as well as scheduling tastings for the editors (maybe there’s accidentally an extra seat and you get to sit in?) and some social media stuff. The job requires writing knowledge, as well as ideally some experience on the line, so if you’ve put in your time and have the burns to prove it, all the better. Just remember, if you get the job, never, and I mean never, steal someone’s lunch out of the fridge.

Okay, so we’ve established that everybody here in the city knows how to dress (editor of this website not included), but if you’ve also got some serious social media mojo going on (AKA how tight is your Instagram game?), then you’re exactly who Jay Godfrey is looking for: this luxury fashion brand is currently looking to bring on a new PR Coordinator (that job title is so in this season). The job is pretty straightforward, running all the social media and ideally trying to get people to fight over what color your dresses are, with the added twist of being the liaison between their East Coast showroom and their LA celebrity dresser. The job also promises potential growth into several different positions, including Marketing Coordinator, so if you like Jay’s Spring line, and can’t wait to see the next one, then this is a good place to apply to.

Do you like design? Would you say to have a certain sense of taste, an “eye”, that makes you a fantastic interior designer? Do you generally want to end suffering in the world? Well, if you answered “no” to the last one, then screw you, buddy, but if you happened to say yes to all three, then you’re in luck because Clodagh Design in NoHo is currently hiring on an Assistant to help them with their design, their office work, and their general saving of the world. The “assisting” portion would be pretty standard for helping out in an interior design office, with the added responsibility of helping out with their myriad of charities that help out children all across the globe. So, design experience plus the definite knowledge you’re getting into heaven? Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

This next one’s a little tight-lipped, but still sounds like an amazing opportunity for anyone who spends their nights behind the bar (behind, not “sleeping on top of-“) and who’re looking to break into the big leagues: an un-named 3-Michelin-Star restaurant (of which there are not many in New York) is looking to hire on a new Bartender. For the right person, this could be a step up to the next level of bartending, where the stakes (and yes, steaks), are significantly bigger, as are the tips (considering one of the 3-star restaurants is the most expensive in America). If you’re looking to show off your bar skills for the big bucks, then start applying now, because even the bartenders are fighting to get into this level of restaurant.

Okay, so maybe so far you’ve been turned off from the fashion jobs since they use fur, and didn’t like the steak joke in the last one (although what do you have against using design to help children? Monster.) Point is, you love animals, and you have no problem telling people that constantly. Well, then you’re in luck, because One Green Planet, a news site devoted entirely to animals and the environment, is hiring on a Staff Writer to help champion Mother Earth, and, according to the ad, make memes about Beyonce. It looks like the job involves 50/50 split between hard-hitting journalism and crafting viral stories. So possibly the dark truth behind cats haz-ing cheeseburgers? Point being, if you’ve got the writing chops and want to use them to save the planet, or just are really good at making cat GIFS, send your resume in by pigeon today.

Finally, Kors Vodka company is hiring on a Brand Ambassador to sell their vo-wait, HOW much is it?! No, that can’t be right, you forgot you added some extra zeroes on there, right? Like, as a joke? No, you’re serious? Anyway, if you think you can help sell $12,000 vodka, here’s the rare opportunity to do that.
