“Look at all of these Tweets” – you, as the new digital media assistant at Seleni Insitute. via website

It’s the first week of October and so far, the month is going pretty damn well. The long weekend is swiftly approaching us, and the weather this past weekend was fairly decent (no thanks to Joaquin). In doing our part to help you live your best life this October, we are once again giving you some fresh job ideas. Feeling lackluster about your current income situation? Dig those resumes out from your desktop, and start applying!

The Seleni Institute, a non profit focused on women’s reproductive and maternal mental health, is looking to hire a digital media assistant. They are looking for a media savy individual capable of maintaining and updating the Seleni Institute’s digital presence including social media, SEO, email marketing, etc. Candidates should be passionate about women’s health; possess excellent grammar and copywriting skills; be technologically savy; and be able to multitask. Bonus for those who know Photoshop, Salesforce, and iContact. One to two years experience preferred but not necessary.

The NYPD is looking for  school crossing guards throughout Brooklyn. There are no formal qualifications for this job except the candidate must “be able to understand and be understood in English.” It probably doesn’t hurt to be kid friendly, too. FYI: all applicants are subject to a background check and medical screening. Get paid to help the youths of our nation get to and from school in one piece? Sounds like a pretty decent day job.

Continuing with the trend of outdoor jobs, Postmates is hiring drivers, bikers and other forms of delivery people. Applicants should have a valid government issued I.D.; must be 18 years or older; have access to a bike, scooter, car, truck or motorcycle; and have an upbeat positive attitude. Perks of the job include making your own hours and, essentially, getting paid to exercise.

A popular Brooklyn co-working space, the Brooklyn Creative League is looking for a friendly, experienced office/community manager to join their team. The job is a great combination of administrative (ordering supplies, managing mail, greeting guests), and creative (planning parties, contributing to BLC social media, adding to BLC atmosphere) responsibilities.  This position is a full time, entry level position with “plenty of room to grow and make a job at a company you love.” Job bonus? You get to plan and host weekly happy hours. So, getting paid to party!

Warning: this job is not for the squeamish. LiceDoctors, a national lice removal health care company, is looking to hire lice removal technicians in the Greater New York area. This job pays $3o an hour plus covering your travel expenses. Applicants don’t need any prior experience in the medical field to be considered, but preferred candidates are those who have worked as hairdressers, or worked with children.

Zen out, open your third eye, and apply for a greeter position at Yoga Works. It’s a fairly typical front desk position: greet guests warmly, make them feel comfortable, and answer any questions (both administrative and other) they may have. Those applying should be energized, positive and naturally helpful. Experience working at a yoga studio, in customer service or in retail is required for this job. Job perks: flexible schedule!

Do you love food? What about museums? Well now you can work for the MOFAD (Museum of Food and Drink),  where there are edible exhibits all over the damn place! MOFAD is hiring energetic, engaging, food and drink passionate people as visitor service associates. Their first-ever exhibit Flavor: Making It and Faking It opens October 28th, and they need you to help make it the crème-de-la-crème. No prior museum experience is necessary, but two or more years of food experience is a plus.

Good luck with the job search, Brokesters. May the odds be ever in your favor.
