We’re always on the hunt for cheap places to eat, or moderately-priced places offering deals anyway, so we’re very familiar with New York Restaurant Week’s proud tradition of ignoring Brooklyn. But screw them, because check it out: it’s African Restaurant Week right now, and the city’s best African restaurants are offering prix fixe lunch and dinner ($16.95 and $24.95 each) and menu discounts. And the organizers are including Brooklyn, because they’ve got half a brain in their heads.

African Restaurant Week is taking place all over the city, but beyond the fact that it’s gonna be wet and cold this week, you want to know what’s going on right around the corner from you. So here are the Brooklyn restaurants participating in the celebration of African grub through Sunday, May 4 with 3-course lunch and dinner prix fixe options:

Cafe Rue Dix, 1451 Bedford Avenue, Crown Heights
Jollof Restaurant, 1168 Bedford Avenue, Bed Stuy
La Caye, 35 Lafayette Avenue, Fort Greene
Buka, 946 Fulton Street, Clinton Hill
Madiba, 195 Dekalb Avenue (plus 10% off the regular menu if you mention African Restaurant Week)

Check out the site for the rest of the restaurants in Manhattan and the Bronx, and happy eating!
