Joey Bada$$ is playing a free show today in Crown Heights

East Flatbush-born, Bed-Stuy bred Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ is headlining a free concert at Medgar Evers College Ampitheater today, August 28, going from 4 to 7pm. The concert, the “First Annual Love Yourself Brooklyn Peace Concert,” was organized by Assemblyman Walter T. Mosley and a variety of other local politicians in an, “effort to promote a safe summer and safe J’Ouvert 2017,” according to the concert’s one-page website.

In addition to Mr. Bada$$, Caribbean DJs Dhaved Levy and Bobby Konders and performers from J’ouvert City International will also be making appearances. The show will be standing room only with a strict no alcohol, beverage, backpacks or large bag policy. To get in, RSVP online and print your ticket or show it on your phone at the door.

The free show’s entrance will be on Montgomery St. between Franklin and Bedford Ave., although the exact address of the amphitheater is 1650 Bedford Ave.

Love Yourself comes on the heels of announcements that security at this year’s J’Ouvert, the formerly predawn celebration which marks the start of the West Indies Day Parade, will be Times Square on New Year’s Eve-level, as well as news that Bada$$ stared into the sun during the eclipse and now has to wear special glasses.
