Help out the Narrows Botanical Garden, be a greeter on weekends!

Yeah, you wanna keep this open
Yeah, you wanna keep this open

Like green space in Brooklyn but don’t quite have it in you to create your own community garden? Makes sense, that’s really hard work. However, now there’s a chance to get involved in one that someone else put together, and all you need to do is point out a sign. The Narrows Botanical Garden (Shore Road between Bay Ridge Avenue and 72nd Street, Bay Ridge) needs greeters on weekends to welcome people and make sure they know not to step on plants.

We got an email from the Gardens, and the greeter volunteer gig sounds like a pretty good way to get some summer reading done and also do something nice. All you need to do is get visitors to sign the guest book and point out a sign with some guidelines for them to follow while traipsing around the native plant garden area. Easy, huh? Volunteering for this will not only allow you to hang out and finish whatever Hunger Games book you’re up to, but also allow the people who run the Garden to take care of other maintenance chores. The shifts are two hours each, going from 10am to noon, noon to 2pm and 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. If you want in, sign up here. If you can’t do it this weekend, they’ll be adding dates in the future, so keep an eye out for that.
