Help clean up Coney Island and you can get a free ride

Help them clean and they’ll help you scream

Coney Island’s clean-up effort in the wake of Hurricane Sandy has been intense, but there’s still more to do.  This weekend, staff from Luna Park, the Scream Zone and the Cyclone will lead a massive cleanup of debris and sand from the boardwalk and streets, and are looking for people to help.

As an added incentive, volunteers will receive a wristband for four hours of unlimited rides at Coney Island in 2013. The cleanup runs from 9 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday. RSVP to [email protected] before you go, check in at Luna Park opposite the Cyclone when you get there, and bring a shovel or broom, garbage bags and work gloves.

  1. Well this is BS! Luna Park is owned by an evil money hungry corporation. They are exploiting the tragedy for free labor. They could easily afford to pay workers to clean up. They are notorious for paying full time workers minimum wage. I think if people want to help they should go to neighborhoods in need and let Luna Park pay people to do this JOB.

Luna Park did pay people to take care of the park – this story is about rewarding volunteers to help the other parts of Coney Island.

It was actually a clean-up of Coney Island (homes, playgrounds, parks and streets), not of the amusement park itself. Luna Park’s Facebook said that their staff took care of the rides and that their “Coney Island Clean Up” focused entirely on helping residents of the area.
