Art is of course in the eye of the beholder, but that should never stop you from popping in to an opening at an art gallery. There’s usually free drinks to be had, and you don’t even really need to know about the paintings, you can just cross your arms in front of you and nod and occasionally say “Hmmm…” Although in the case of Bottleneck Gallery’s “Gizmos and Gadgets” opening, you’ll probably be well-versed in the art, because it’s paintings of the artists’ favorite pop culture gadgets.

The picture of Duck Tales turned into pop art is only the tip of the iceberg for this exhibit. Bottleneck got work from more than 50 artists, who turned things like the Voight-Kampff machine, Batman through the ages and Gizmo from Gremlins from pop culture artifacts to can’t-miss art. The opening tomorrow is 100% free, and there will of course be complimentary beverages.

Gizmos and Gadgets Opening Reception, Friday, January 18 7pm – 10pm, Bottleneck Gallery, 60 Broadway, Williamsburg, FREE
