Prime neighborhood apartment roundup: 5 places near the action

We don’t have to tell you that you can get a deal on a 2BR if you’re willing to walk 10 blocks to take a bus to the J train at New Lots Ave., but this post is for people who want to be near the action. You know, bars and restaurants that you can no longer afford because you’re spending all your money on rent. Let’s be real: unless Uncle Sal still has his brownstone on Union Street, you’re not going to get into Carroll Gardens for the price of feeding your landlady’s cat, so don’t jump all over us because these places aren’t dirt cheap. Our prime-neighborhood Brooklyn apartment search starts in Uncle Sal’s neighborhood, with a newly renovated, high-ceilinged  2BR (alternately called a 1BR plus den) for $2,400. Here, four more:

• Closer to the Cobble Hill end of things is this sweet-looking “Federalist-style” 1.5 BR with a mucho eleganté archway, built-in bookshelves and some kind of something nice happening on the ceiling, also for $2,400. Also: eat-in kitchen and walk-in closet. (Is that the second bedroom?)

• Here’s what they call a junior 1BR in “prime Clinton Hill” for $1,550, and Junior looks like he’s a little on the skinny side. But if he turns sideways you can see the brand new kitchen and bath.

• Here’s a bright 3BR floor-through on Washington Ave for $2,675.The pictures are kind of, er, busy, but look past the dirty laundry and you can feel the good livin’ vibes in this promising share.

• We predict the next New York Times trend piece will be about multiple couples moving in together to save on rent. Couplemates. Couphabitants. (Tim, ya got anything?) And they will move into this place: a $3,300 2BR duplex in Park Slope with outdoor space, washer-dryer, nice kitchen. Two couples comes out to $825 a person, with plenty of room to do Style section interviews and pitch reality producers.
