Spoils was featured in the DOC NYC Film Festival

Last year, we interviewed Brooklyn filmmaker Alex Mallis on his short short documentary Spoils: Extraordinary HarvestLast Friday, Mallis’s film has was shown at the DOC NYC film festival as part of their Common Ground series. Hooray!

Spoils follows three Brooklyn Dumpster divers from their kitchens to the Dumpsters they foraged in and back, to show how and why they do it.  A Dumpster diver himself, Mallis befriended some of his fellow divers and documented their experience for those of us who might never think to eat something that has been thrown away.

Brooklyn, what do you think? Have you ever considered Dumpster diving?
