WORLD HOOP DAY CELEBRATED AROUND THE WORLD, WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES FOR CHARITY IN NEW YORK CITY, OCTOBER 5TH

The World Hoop Day (WHD) organization is a non-profit that brings cost-effective toys to remote areas of the world where resources are limited. The organization also donates hoops to agencies that have a direct impact on communities, such as the Peace Corps and Girl Scouts of America, orphanages, rehabilitation centers and senior homes.

New York City’s celebration of the global event, hosted by The Hoop Movement, a NYC-based company that specializes in hula-hoop fitness classes, promises live group performance art with professional and amateur hula hoopers of all skill levels. They will perform a large-group choreography piece in several locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The project will be filmed and contributed to a worldwide compilation video, highlighting dancers from around the globe.

The hoopers are calling on friends, family, community members, and spectators to donate to the “tip jar,” either in a cash donation in person, or the online fund, found here: http://www.gofundme.com/4e1cs0. All proceeds will go the WHD organization.
