On December 14, Threadgill will pre-release “Old Locks and irregular Verbs” (Pi Recordings), a piece dedicated to the late conductor Lawrence D. “Butch: Morris. On December 15, guest pianist David Bryant joins Threadgill for the premiere of a new commission, “Double-Up plays Double Up Plus,” dedicated to Ahmad Jamal, Barry Harris, Eddie Palmieri, Muhal Richard Abrams, Cecil Taylor and Joseph Kubera.
Chicago native Henry Threadgill is a composer, saxophonist, flautist, and leading figure in the jazz avant garde scene. He has been involved with AACM since its inception in the early 1960s, collaborating with fellow members Joseph Jarman and Roscoe Mitchell and playing in Muhal Richard Abrams’ legendary Experimental Band.
