Treetops & House of Yes presents Let Them Eat Cake! Featuring Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs & Dimitri From Paris
Dec 3, 2016 @ 10:00 pm - Dec 4, 2016 @ 5:00 am| 30-45
On Saturday December 3, Brooklyn’s favorite over the top club and performance space, House of Yes once again teams up with interactive art party crew Treetops for their ‘Let Them Eat Cake!’ French Revolution themed dance party. Featuring not one, but two legendary international DJ heavyweights, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (DJ set) and disco DJ god Dimitri From Paris, the party promises to be one of the most energetic and uplifting music line ups to hit a Bushwick dancefloor this year.
Winding back the clock to the days of the French Revolution, the 18th century themed event will feature an array of enlightening entertainment to arouse the senses and inspire improvisation and participation alongside a stellar DJ line up. Encouraging guests to embrace their inner ‘Liaisons Dangereuses’ and dress in their finest aristocratic attire, interactions will include: aerial ballroom performances befitting the Palace of Versailles, edible costumes worthy of Marie Antoinette courtesy of the Theatre Development Fund who dress the MET Opera, French Revolution and pastry themed visual projection mapping, and a centrally placed Fire Organ by Guerilla Science; a flame soundscape sculpture that shoots fire to the sound of music. Engaging with partygoers in the queue will be philosophical and delicious characters like Robespierre Tiramisu who will be sparking quirky conversations and hinting at the extravagance waiting inside over pastries, cake and delicately frosted Baroque desserts.
Known for his fun, upbeat and genre crossing beats, the UK’s Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) returns for his only New York show on his North American tour. Demonstrating his ability to jump between jungle, electro pop, house and melodic rave he showcases his true kaleidoscopic ability as one of the greatest producers and DJ’s of dance music today. Not one to take himself too seriously, TEED regularly dons large ornate headpieces and out there costumes during his sets.
Returning to New York, Dimitri From Paris is hailed as one of the greatest disco DJs on the planet. The Turkish born producer based in France is credited as introducing house music to the French mainstream media. Throughout his music career he has recorded soundtracks for fashion houses including Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Yves Saint Laurent as well as producing remixes for Björk, James Brown, and Michael Jackson.
“TEED makes music with such amazing variety and energy that isn’t limited to any single genre. He just crushes it consistently on the decks,” says Treetops co-founder Eric Holt. “And then we have Dimitri From Paris who is probably the best disco DJ in the world. He is an absolute legend who has been doing this for years and years to massive amounts of fan fare all over. It’s exciting for us to give fans this progression of one of the gods of disco alongside this brilliant young phenom who brings eclectic intelligent energy to every scene.”
A collective of 15 volunteers, Treetops is dedicated to creating a party atmosphere that is playful and fun with a huge focus on improvised performance and entertainment alongside top DJ talent. Previous installments at House of Yes and other New York venues have featured DJ Pierre, Moodymann, Gene Farris and Kill Frenzy alongside themes like “Mad Science Fair”, “Game of Life”, and the “Organ Party.”
