The day starts with a lesson on how to use the dichotomous classification system that botanists use to identify trees by twig and leaf specimens. After a lunch break, Bill will lead a tour of Green-Wood’s extensive grounds to how you how to put your knowledge to the test. Soon you’ll be recognizing and identifying trees in the field like a pro. This workshop is an enjoyable way to spend a spring afternoon in one of the largest and most varied collections of mature trees in New York City. Green-Wood is an accredited arboretum with over 7,000 trees representing 166 different species.
