Touring Songsmiths Connect in Brooklyn
Jan 10, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm| Free
December 16, 2013 – Continent-crossing guitarist Daryl Shawn will be pairing with Delaware-based singer-songwriter Beth Goldwater for an evening of modern acoustic music at Freddy’s Backroom, located in Brooklyn at 485 Dean Street, on Friday, January 10. Music starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free. They will be spinning out two sets of original tunes both instrumental and vocal, developed over years in venues across the country.
Named Best New Artist by 93.7 WSTW’s Hometown Heroes, Beth Goldwater has performed in such prestigious rooms as House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, Chris’s Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia and World Cafe Live at the Queen, where she recently opened for Suzanne Vega. Beth’s song ‘The Ravine’ is in the indie horror film soundtrack, Slew Hampshire, and one of her French songs, “L’Amour Fou”, is set to appear in an upcoming documentary film.
An alumnus of Berklee College of Music who went on to develop his craft during five years in Oaxaca, Mexico, Daryl Shawn combines his taste for unusual chords with the guitar-thumping techniques of flamenco. He often complements his impressive guitar skills with winsome, colorful rhymes. Fans of Rodrigo y Gabriela, Andy McKee and Kaki King will find much of interest in his music.
