Tombs, Tales, and Tunes is Green-Wood’s new storytelling series that proves everyone has at least one good story to tell. The theme for this kick-off evening is “Stage Fright.” Green-Wood teams up with Susan Kent of Tell It: Brooklyn for an evening filled with surprise twists, unexpected endings, hearty laughs, and perhaps even a few tears. Professional storytellers begin the evening, starting with the story of Green-Wood permanent residents, actress Kate Claxton (1848-1924) who stayed in character while fire engulfed the Brooklyn Theater in 1876 and also actress, Laura Keene (1826-1783), who performed in “Our American Cousin” the night President Lincoln was assassinated at Ford’s Theater. Attendees who are so inclined are invited to join in the fun by telling their own tales that fit the evening’s theme.

Charming Disaster, a Brooklyn-based duo specializing in murder ballads and love songs, will enhance the evening with some musical storytelling of their own. The evening takes place in Green-Wood’s historic chapel. Seasonally appropriate treats will be served.

Some material may not be suitable for young audiences.

$20; $15 for members of Green-Wood Historic Fund and members of Brooklyn
Historical Society. Seating is limited. Reservations are recommended. If the event is not sold out, walk-ups will be accommodated on a first-come, first- served basis. For more information, visit www.green-wood.com/toursevents or call 718-210-3080.
