Tom Stathes Cartoon Carnival: Hearts and Flowers

Feb 16, 2014 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

| $10

It’s time for TSCC #24! I’ve hand-selected a group of weird, wacky, rare and funny 16mm cartoons from the 1920s thru the 1940s to celebrate the Valentine season. Bring a date, a friend, or just yourself…everyone is welcome to come on out and enjoy these cartoons. You’ll love ’em…and the selection is entirely different from the Lovey Doveys show which just passed.

VALENTINE BONUS: We will be showing one of the rare 1930s Race Night Comedies. These short live-action films feature old silent-era comedians racing with numbers on their backs. Theaters gave each customer a ticket with a number, only one of which matches the winning racer’s number in the film. Your Race Night Comedy ticket is automatically included with your show ticket purchase–and each attendee has a chance to win a cool prize from our friend Nelson Hughes who recently rediscovered these films!

There will also be a traditional raffle for TWO chances to win a copy of the new “Romantic Rarities” DVD. Compiled especially for this year’s Valentine season, the DVD features ten funny and obscure 1920s-1940s cartoons transferred directly from 16mm prints in the Stathes collection. This DVD will also be available for sale at the show.

Doors at 7:30pm. Arrive on time for good seats…
Show tickets are $10 at the door. Includes popcorn and a ticket for a chance to win a cool prize during the Race Night Comedy!

Tom Stathes is a “Cartoon Cryptozoologist” with a rare film print collection comprised of over 1,000 shorts. Tom’s long term goal has been to acquire and preserve as many early animated films as possible and reintroduce them to the public.
