Phoebe Blue & The Make Baleaves:
“Phoebe Blue & The Make Baleaves is an antifolk band from Staten Island. While they perform on stage they will take you into their dream world and leave you in the dark. Trees will fall in the forest of your mind and no one will believe you when you tell them what you heard.” -Leo Moon
Cal Folger Day:
Cal Folger Day is an American songwriter and performer now based in Dublin. As with her first EP, Drom-d’reau (2013), the rudiments of Adornament (Reeks of Effort UK, Feb 2015) were recorded on an 8-track in Woodstock, NY. Those analog frameworks were then frankensteined to other material captured in Brooklyn and Dublin. The sound is both direct and lush, with violins, drum machines, guitars, wurlitzer, big and little voices. “There is a sense of self and personality to the music… Adornament is work of subtle and considered songwriting” (The Last Mixed Tape).
Medieval music was her first focus. In 2012 she was a member of Rayvon Browne with Morgan Heringer and Joel Kruzic. For two years Cal hosted a weekly open stage at A Gathering of the Tribes on the Lower East Side. She makes chapbooks and has been a featured artist at the Brooklyn, Dublin, and DC zine fests. She recently directed a 12-person orchestra and chorus in a performance of 6 Children’s Choruses by Béla Bartók.
“A guitarist and chanteuse with jazz leanings, whose vocal control and onstage presence commands attention.” The New Yorker
