TIME AFTER TIME: VARIETY SHOW ABOUT MOVIES AND WOMEN’S HISTORY
March 9 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm| $10
Travel through time in this appreciation of badass women on screen, and the generations they’ve inspired.
Kseniya Yarosh (Bonnie & Maude podcast / I Love Bad Movies zine) and a roster of film critics, fans, and programmers dive into iconic movie moments from the 1930s to the 1990s in a film-centric celebration of Women’s History Month.
Each presentation will tackle a different decade, giving historical and political context to Barbara Stanwyck’s sexually-charged, pre-Code performance in Baby Face (1933), Melanie Griffith’s sneakered corporate climb in Working Girl (1988), Reese Witherspoon’s original “nasty woman” in Election (1999), and much more.
The show will feature an original movie-themed performance by dancer/choreographer Terry Hempfling and include presentations by Filmmaker Caroline Golum, Pop-Culture Scholar Amber Nigro, Rommel Wood (Ear Hammer/The Dolores Claiborne Minute), Tanya Smith (Read It and Weep Podcast), and more!
Some lucky audience members will win tongue-in-cheek feminist swag courtesy of Working Girls!
