The Twists and Turns of Green-Wood: A Surprise Around Every Bend

Dec 31, 1969 @ 7:00 pm

| The talk is free. The trolley tour is $20; $15 for members of the Green-Wood Historic Fund and the Brooklyn Historical Society.
GW Trolley- credit Robert Denbo

Green-Wood owes much of its splendor to the genius of its original designer – landscape architect David Bates Douglass. He chose rolling hills and serpentine walkways rather than unobstructed open space, purposefully giving Green-Wood 478 acres of visually stunning pathways and surprises around each bend.

Join Art Presson, Green-Wood’s Superintendent of Grounds in Green-Wood’s Historic Chapel for a talk on David Bates Douglass’ design before embarking on a trolley tour of what’s changed, what’s stayed the same and what’s to come. This talk is ideal for garden enthusiasts, historians, landscape professionals, amateur gardeners, as well as anyone who is charmed by Green-Wood’s enchanting design.
