The Night Shift
Mar 1, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm| $10
Imagine going to listen to live classical music, but being able to relax. Enjoy a beer with the music? Check. Clap and cheer? Sure. Snapchat it to your friends? No problem. Say hello to The Night Shift – classical music, minus the rules.
London’s ground-breaking classical night comes to New York for the very first time. Enjoy two 30 minute sets of music from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment all introduced from the stage by the musicians, and featuring music from Mozart. And it really doesn’t get much bigger than Mozart.
What is The Night Shift?
Classical concerts can be hellish. Almost everything is frowned upon except, perhaps, snobbishness and a strict observance of ‘the rules’ – rules which are often unwritten, confusing or just plain bizarre. Why not enjoy classical music somewhere relaxing? Why not have a drink? Why the hell not treat it like you would any other form of music? The Night Shift answers all of these questions. For the last 10 years, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) – on top of playing the world’s grandest (and stuffiest) concert halls – have taken their rule-breaking classical music night to clubs and pubs, to backrooms, theatres and even the open air. What started in London spread to towns and cities across the UK, winning the OAE hundreds of new fans. The reason? Irreverence, innovation, and absolute dedication to trying new things.
