THE NEW LEWISS & HIS BIG BANG
Indie rock from NYC
Netherlands was formed in 2008 in NYC by Timo Ellis (guitar, throat), Sam Levin (Synthbass, throat), and Dave Burnett (drums). Timo Ellis has recorded and played with Yoko Ono, Cibo Matto, John Zorn, The Melvins, Gibby Haynes, Ween, Joan as Police Woman, and Spacehog, among many others. He has also put out over 30 widely varied solo albums as TE and under several other pseudonyms.
Rarechild, from New York’s leisurely Hamptons, is the performance project of Michael Aaron (Gurus, Rahim). Drawing from the sounds and images of avant-pop pioneers like Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, and David Cronenberg, Rarechild is a playful exploration of gender ambiguity, the interface of flesh and technology, the sacred and the strange.
Griot and Megawatt are Apostles; leaders of a new movement called Grown Folks Hip Hop. Lyrics center on real life themes that people with jobs, kids and bills can relate to. It’s socially conscious, from an intelligent and funny point of view. Griot and Mega have been writing, spitting and producing together since 1999, and separately for even longer. They are a pair of studio rats and a couple of showmen in every sense. In addition to being two of NYC’s finest emcees, they are both prolific producer/ engineers.
