The Humor Code takes over Gotham Comedy
Apr 1, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm| $15
With Myq Kaplan as your host and moderator, comedy from Ophira Eisenberg and Mike Drucker, and improv from Nate Dern and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Join us for an evening where comedy and science collide. To celebrate the launch of their book, The Humor Code, Peter McGraw, director of the Humor Research Lab (HuRL) at University of Colorado Boulder, and journalist Joel Warner (Wired, Slate, Bloomberg Businessweek), are bringing you a show that’s one part science experiment, one part standup show, and one part comedy debate.
You’ll hear about McGraw and Warner’s 91,000-mile adventure studying humor in places like Palestine, Tanzania, the Amazon. You’ll see comedians perform live standup and watch the humor scientists dissect the comedians’ sets. Then the authors and comedians will go head-to-head, debating whether or not it’s truly possible to crack the humor code.
Only $15. Doors open at 6:15pm. Books will be available for purchase and the authors will sign books after the event.
