The Gay Graves Tour
Oct 11, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm| $30
This LGBT-focused guided walking tour of Green-Wood Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark in Brooklyn, is the only one of its kind. This Tour will introduce you to the famous and the not-so-famous gay men and lesbians, their friends, their supporters and their detractors who are among the permanent residents at Green-Wood.
Those highlighted include Louis Moreau Gottschalk, the 19th-century Liberace; Leonard Bernstein, composer of “West Side Story”; Emma Stebbins, sculptress of Angel of the Waters in Central Park; Violet Oakley, muralist of the Pennsylvania Statehouse; Fred Ebb, lyricist for “Cabaret” and “Chicago”; Paul Jabara, Oscar-winning composer of “Last Dance”; and others.
This Tour is conducted entirely on foot. It is more of a hiking tour than a walking tour because of the amount of territory it covers and the hilly nature of the beautiful terrain.
