Celebrate a full year of the Comedy Revolution at this special edition of Manifesto! – the weekly Brooklyn stand-up show hosted by Tim Ellis & Mo Fathelbab – presented by The Experiment Comedy, a producer of live shows, web series, podcasts, and more.
DAVE HILL is a writer, performer, musician, actor, comedy-type person, artist, and thinking man living in the Big City, New York to be exact. He has written for the New York Times, Salon, HBO, Blender, The Huffington Post, and so much more. He stared in the show “King of Miami” on the MOJO network, and has also appeared on MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, and Cartoon Network.Dave hosts the hit show The Dave Hill Explosion at UCB Theater, and is also a member of rockin’ bands like Valley Lodge, Children of the Unicorn and his most recent outfit, Diamond Snake. Dave wrote an amazing book called “Tasteful Nudes,” published by St. Martin’s Press. You should definitely buy it.
APARNA NANCHERLA, queen of that slightly cynical but innocent humor, has been winning audiences everywhere she goes. You may have caught her on “Last Comic Standing”, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Aspen Rooftop or WTF podcast. Writer and player on W. Kamau Bell’s “Totally Biased” Aparna is sure to be soaking up the laughs. Look out for her on SF Sketchfest’s comedy lineup this year.
SARA BENINCASA is a comedian and author who often helps out with co-hosting duties for the live, L.A. version of popular podcast “RISK!”, presented by her friend and mentor Kevin Allison of “The State”. She is currently in the middle of “This Tour Is So Gay” lecture tour, spreading love and acceptance of the country’s LGBTQI community. Pick up her memoir “Agorafabulous! Dispatches From My Bedroom” and her YA novel “Great” right now.
LYNN BIXENSPAN is a regular at The UCB Theatre, The PIT, and NYC storytelling scene. She’s performed with the ECNY-nominated musical improv group The Pearl Brunswick, and had appeared on FUSE, E!’s “Body Double”, and starred in the indie film “W.O.P.” She is currently co-hosts “Relationshit!” at The Treehouse Theater and is host of The Experiment at People’s Republic of Brooklyn’s free bi-weekly storytelling open mic “Safe House”.
EMMY BLOTNICK is a comedian and writer based in New York. Her work has appeared on Comedy Central, VH1, MTV and others. She has recently appeared in Comedy Central’s “Comedians Crashing Couches”, TruTV’s “Friends Of The People”, a commercial for Intel, and three episodes of SELF Magazine’s series “Girl vs. Sweat”. She co-hosts a fun monthly show with Matt Koff at Pacific Standard in Brooklyn.
TIM ELLIS co-hosts the weekly stand-up show “Manifesto!” at The Experiment at People’s Republic of Brooklyn. He created the one-man show “An Inquiry into Human Understanding”, which he performed at Ars Nova, the Peoples Improv Theater, and Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. With the comedy-music duo Ellis & Park, Tim appeared in the long-running shows “Of the Moment and An Evening with Ellis & Park” at the PIT, as well as at Joe’s Pub, Comix, and SketchFestNYC. He has been featured on “Risk!” and “Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction” (live shows and podcasts), Sirius XM Radio, in The Andy Kaufman Award competition, and the NY Funny Song Festival.
MO FATHELBAB has been a part of the behind-the-scenes goings on in both the New York and Los Angeles comedy scenes since 2002, spending eight of those years at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre NYC and three years at The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics — or NerdMelt for short — out in LaLa Land. He is the co-founder of The Experiment Comedy, is currently the co-host and co-producer of the weekly standup show “Manifesto!” at The Experiment at The People’s Republic of Brooklyn (247 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231), and the showrunner of the upcoming webseries, “Hooking Up With Marielena”.
SAM GRITTNER is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor, who lives and eats pizza in Brooklyn. He is frequently on Twitter (@SamGrittner) and is a regular contributor to Witstream.com. His writing has been featured on MSNBC, Mashable (multiple times), The Huffington Post, and CNN.com. He is also the creator of @TonightonGIRLS, an absurdist homage to the HBO show “Girls” (recommended by The Huffington Post and Lena Dunham: “It’s my fave thing ever”), and managed Hollywood.com’s Twitter account: @Hollywood_com (12/28/12-4/29/13)
BEN KRONBERG combines clever one-liners and witty observations with catchy songs that he performs while playing instruments like the guitar, Casio-keyboard and iPhone! Much of his material has been inspired by girlfriends, who are now incidentally ex-girlfriends. Since his breakout performance at HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival, Ben has performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Last Call With Carson Daly” and “John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show.” Comedy Central recently named Ben as one of the “Comics to Watch.” Ben is also the star of the popular web series: “Ted & Gracie,” a story of a woman who is engaged to a serial killer, but has no idea. Ben recently filmed his first Half Hour Comedy Central Special.
SUE SMITH is a comedic actor, writer, and standup who has appeared on all those clip shows on VH1: Best Week Ever, I Love the 2000s, and 40 Greatest Viral Videos. Sue has studied at the UCB since 2007. Her solo character show, Minimum Rage, ran at the UCB on both coasts and people seemed to like it. (It was a Time Out Critic’s Pick and profiled in the New York Daily News.) Her writing has appeared in xoJane, Brokelyn, VICE and other places that aren’t as trendy. She has a cool web series called Brokelandia, a cool improv team called HMS Quarterly, and a cool podcast called Tits & Giggles.
