7:30 Political TALE: A Storytelling Show About Politics
POLITICAL TALES is the finest in NYC political storytelling. Yes, it’s a storytelling show about politics, the political system, personal encounters with the Red State/Blue State madness, and the current messed-up state of our world.
POLITICAL TALES comes to StoryFest – right as the election season kicks into high gear and election frenzy begins to ramp up. It’s an event that reflects how politics really screws with each and every one of us; as told through personalized stories.
POLITICAL TALES is not a traditional yuck-yuck political stand-up show filled with Trump jokes – but the first storytelling show in New York to focus on unimaginable encounters with the political world.
Hosted by Harmon Leon and Jeff Kreisler J
9:00: Solo Storytelling 3: Adam Wade, Glen Heroy, Harmon Leon
Solo Storytelling 3 brings you three of NY’s established storytellers – each doing long extended solo sets.
Adam Wade (HBO’s Girls, Inside Amy Schumer, Glen Heroy (Macy’s Santa for the past 12 years), Harmon Leon (This American Life, VICE)
10:30: Bare: True Stories of Sex, Desire, & Romance
Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Bare! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.
Hosted by Jefferson Bites Jefferson Bites
6pm: My First Time: A Storytelling Show
It’s all fun and games until somebody loses…their virginity.
Whether you were 16 or 30, at the senior prom, spring break ’98, your wedding night, or a quickie in the dorm before your college roommate got back, everybody’s got a first time story.
Angela Cobb (She-Devil Comedy Festival) presents some of NYC’s best stand-up comics and storytellers as they share hilarious accounts of their first sexual experiences.
7PM: VHS Presents: Awkward Teen Videos and Stories
VHS Presents is a storytelling show where we travel back to yesterday, when the comedians and storytellers of tomorrow were busy trying to get attention today. In this show some of NYC’s finest performers show the videos they made in their embarrassing youth and tell the stories of their previous self that made that video. From overly earnest interviews about race-relations in America, to Spanish II class projects, to choreographed fight scenes between siblings, to mockumentaries about performance artists made in a suburban mall – here we showcase the artifacts that shaped these performers into the people they are today. Come laugh nostalgically at an era where everything was able to be recorded, but finding an audience was much more difficult – to the era of the VHS.
Brought to you by Angel Yau & Nisse Greenberg
9pm: The Virgin Chronicles
Evan Morgenstern & Darin Patterson host a night of comedians and storytellers sharing their “first time” stories (ex. first job, first time on stage, first time getting drunk, first kiss, etc.). On the podcast Evan & Darin talk to one comedian or storyteller about their “first time” story and follow it up with in-depth questions.
10:30 ASS: Antagonist Storytelling Series
ASS is where you’ll hear comedians talk about the awful things they’ve done, without feeling a shred of shame. There’s no life lessons, and no moments of redemption. Just people being pricks.
ASS will guarantee to make you think, “I’m not so bad after all.”
Hosted by Jake Hart and Nick Padilla Nick Padilla
