Spanish Photographer Viky Garcia Solo Show + lunch party of Subject_
May 28, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm| Free
Subject_ (subjectnyc.com), a worldwide gallery that promotes and sells work by emerging artists through an online platform and rotating pop up shows, is pleased to announce its inaugural New York launch at the Ludlow Studios. To celebrate the event, an opening party will be held on May 28, 2015 at the Studios. This will be the first evening-only exhibition of Subject_ and will showcase Brooklyn-based and Spanish photographer and visual artist Viky Garcia’s latest work Mothers Milk. In this newest work, Garcia uses images from the everyday life and from her childhood house to explore her relationship with her mother. The work reflects the artist’s introspective thinking of her relationship with her mother and includes ideas of disconnection, chaos, tension, and acceptance with more or less of a comic perspective. It appears to be personal yet also universal as it questions general relationship matters between a mother and her daughter.
The event will also include multiple performances by the artist. This is the first solo show of the artist in New York City. It will be an immersion into the world Garcia has created in her latest collection. The exhibition is curated by Juana Domenzain and Maria Luisa.
The opening will be held on Thursday, May 28 from 6:30PM to 10PM at the Ludlow Studios located on 40 Ludlow Street.
