Mutation of behaviors and cultural aberrations occur more rapidly in societies on the brink of extinction. Social permutations are affecting individual psychologies, leading to DNA mutations, and effecting accelerated evolution/hybridization of human species. The current engagement is focused on personal and public practices, used to develop strategies to harness such processes, and enact controlled socio-psycho-genetic mutations.
⌘ FEATURING ⌘
CELESTE NEUHAUS (Pittsburgh) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. Her assemblages, sculptures, videos, and performances inquire into the interconnections of the forces at play in the cosmos, the psyche, ecologies, and the body. http://celesteneuhaus.com
VALERIE KUEHNE (Pittsburgh) is a cross-pollinated work of chaos! Fusing music, performance art, narrative, and experimental curation, she has been told that, “if this music thing doesn’t work out, she’d probably make an awesome cult leader.” (Boston Public Space). Kuehne has systematically split her time between touring the planet, performing in as many unexpected settings as possible, and building a community for experimental music and performance art. http://www.valeriekuehne.com
KAROLINA KUBIK (Poland / NYC) is a visual performance artist, poet, activist, anarchist. She performs in between definitions, checking what a counter-culture and poetic terrorism means for her, creating installations, video-art, drawings and workshops. A crucial element of her performance lies in time and embarrassing situations, which verify the attractiveness of norms and experiences. www.cargocollective.com/karolinakubik
LUKE MANNARINO (NYC) Though my work I explore concepts of site specificity, trauma, identity, memory, and the interactions between humans when considering technology. The work i make becomes a process in which I take the information the world is offering to me and using my actions to try and make sense of it. http://cargocollective.com/lmannarino
RAHA BEHNAM + ALEXA MARDON (NYC / Iran / Canada)
The project we are working on concerns dance/art making across time/distance and in relationship to place. We will use Skype to bring each other into the same space.
