Screening of EL ALCALDE and DUTERTE’S HELL

September 7 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

| $10

UnionDocs is thrilled to be starting our Fall programming with a screening EL ALCALDE and DUTERTE’S HELL, two films that explore consolidating power and control from an elevated position of political influence.

EL ALCALDE is an exploration of the current situation in Mexico through the lens of controversial politician Mauricio Fernandez. Although he has lowered the high crime rate in his town, what are the moral costs and implications of his acts? DUTERTE’S HELL explores similar themes through the deadly campaign to end the drug trade by 16th president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte. The film examines his power from an intimate vantage point that chronicles the past year where police and vigilantes have reportedly killed over 7,000 people suspected of participating in the drug trade.

Taking place at UnionDocs in Brooklyn on September 7th at 7:30pm, this event is co-presented with Proyector and will be followed by discussion with Director Carlos Rossini and Sebastian Diaz of Proyector. Join us for this screening and stick around for the discussion afterwards! http://bit.ly/2vStabG
