SASS & Groupmuse Present: Historic Revolutions in Music + Live Music!

Jun 9, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies (SASS!) is proud to present a series of free lectures designed to both entertain and enlighten. We meet at The Bedford, the 2nd Tuesday of each month to discuss historical topics that you probably knew at one point but don’t remember anymore. Plus, there will be drink specials!

This month, we’re thrilled to be partnering with Groupmuse – a social network that connects classical musicians to local audiences through concert house parties (!) – and will have a real live string quartet accompanying the evening’s final lecture!

Music is a powerful force, and has been used to affect and express moments of great change throughout history. This June, with the help of Groupmuse, we’re discussing the monumental role played by music during tumultuous times.

The Night’s Lecture’s Include:

– Beatlemania & The British Invasion
– 99 Problems but a Pitch ain’t One
– Shostakovich & The Secret Police (accompanied by a 20 minute performance by a Groupmuse string quartet after the talk!)*
