Ruchama King Feuerman at Barnes and Noble, Upper West Side

Apr 24, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

| Free

On Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m., Ruchama King Feuerman will discuss her novel In the Courtyard of the Kabbalist at Barnes & Noble, Upper West Side.

Set in Jerusalem, In the Courtyard of the Kabbalist is the story of former Lower East Side haberdasher Isaac, now an assistant to an elderly rabbi; Mustafa, a physically deformed Arab janitor who works on the Temple Mount; and the beautiful Tamar, a young American woman searching for a righteous man.

The novel is a thriller, a courtship tale, and a gentle clash between civilizations. Feuerman paints a world that is alive with mystical currents and her characters come from all walks of life: immigrants and natives; Muslim and Jewish; prophets and lost souls. As her characters move through their world, they are never sure if they will fall prey to the cruel tricks of luck or be sheltered by a higher power.

Ruchama King Feuerman’s first novel, the highly acclaimed Seven Blessings, was a Hadassah Book Club selection. She lives with her family in New Jersey.
