Rubulad’s Cheap & Dirty New Year’s Eve
Dec 31, 2013 @ 9:00 pm| $10
One of New York’s most loved underground event spaces has been given a brief reprieve and Rubulad is pleased to return to celebrate their Cheap & Dirty New Year’s Eve, the city’s biggest bargain bash.
And speaking of reprieves, the evening features command performances by Rubulad favorites on the main stage. Batala, New York City’s only 40-woman AfroBrazilian Samba Reggae drumming band, heralds the new year with a barrage of percussion. 60’s French pop ensemble Les Sans Culottes helps you get your year-end groove on. And, if you enjoyed them last month, Morricone Youth will again provide the fin de annee score for the evening’s soiree, performing their signature film and television soundtrack selections.
Meanwhile, upstairs in the cozy speakeasy Cabaret Room, lounge as you listen to New Orleans’ bawdiest accordionist/songwriter/multi-hoola-hooper Mary-Go-Round, rockstar guitar goddess Viva DeConcini. And behold the wonders of Terry Dame’s Science Music Roadshow.
In between the vast array of amazing performers, dance in 2014 with your Rubulad DJs Shakey, Ol’ Stark and friends.
Augmenting the many sights and sounds of the soiree, G. Scopitronic’s Non-Stop Film Fest, interactive movement by Modern Dance Awareness Society, Visionary Visuals by The Sperm Whale and Light Circus Extraordinaire by Norm Francoeur. At midnight, take part in the one and only Champagne Bunny Toast. And enjoy many more special surprises too numerous to enumerate!
