Refuge, a Dinner Series: Iraqi Dinner
April 23 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm| $125
The Brooklyn Kitchen will host a dinner to benefit refugees and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) on April 25th at 5:00 pm at 100 Frost St., Brooklyn, NY, 11211 (entrance on Meeker between Frost and Leonard), accessible via the Lorimer G/L stop and Graham L stop. Chef Maha Al-Obaidi will be preparing a traditional meal from her native Iraq. Tickets for the evening of food, conversation, and community are $125 each, with all proceeds going to the IRC and refugees. The next dinner will be on May 6th with chef Vallerie Fall from Senegal. Refuge, a Dinner Series is the brainchild of chef instructor Stephanie Dietz-Urena. “Cooking a meal for someone is such an intimate act and you learn so much about someone’s culture when you explore their food…and spend that time together” Dietz says, “[you can] learn more about their journey.”
