Refinery29’s comedy arm RIOT presents its After After Party.
Our host Sonia Denis invites an eclectic group of influential party guests including Bowen Yang and Shantira Jackson to celebrate, satirize and ‘real talk’ the news. From current events to social issues to pop culture pettiness…if it’s filling up your social feed, it’s hitting up the After After Party.
Sonia Denis is a New York-based comedian by way of Chicago, IL. Sonia’s stand-up can be described as confessional, frenetic and another cool adjective. Sonia was recently named one of Comedy Central’s 2016 Comics to Watch at the New York Comedy Festival. She co-stars in the critically acclaimed Emmy nominated web-series BROWN GIRLS. Her writing has been featured on McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and Brightest Young Things.
Shantira Jackson is a writer, performer and recent Chicago transplant. She is currently Brooklyn based and writing for BET’s upcoming sketch show 50 Central. Shantira is a former writer for Cards Against Humanity and a Second City Mainstage Alum. She can be seen performing all over the country with her critically acclaimed improv group 3Peat.
BOWEN YANG is a comedian, producer and formerly a mediocre chemistry major based in Brooklyn, NY. He creates and produces various live shows in New York, including “LIVE ON BROADGAY” at Littlefield, “LAKE HOMO HIGH” at The Annoyance, and the “LAS CULTURISTAS” podcast with Matt Rogers. TV credits include “BROAD CITY” and “THE OUTS.” He performs sketch with POP ROULETTE—named one of Comedy Central’s “Comics to Watch”—and occasionally performs stand-up around the city. His work has been featured on Above Average, The Onion News Network, Mashable, and CollegeHumor.
Jaboukie Young-White is a Brooklyn based comedian from Chicago. He was recently featured in Rolling Stones 25 under 25. He gets off tweets and performs all over the city on the reg. Follow him @jaboukie
Donwill is a Brooklyn-based rapper, comedy person and DJ who can be spotted spinning at Night Train with Wyatt Cenac, 2DopeQueens podcast with Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, and several other venues around New York City.
