Political Subversities: Third Party Ticket

Political Subversities returns to the People’s Improv Theater t o lampoon politics, pop culture and more with its newest edition: “Political Subversities: Third Party Ticket” on June 10th at 8:00PM. Celebrating the group’s 1 0th Anniversary, t his newest edition will feature brand new material with a few old favorites. The show runs every Friday night through July 22nd.
Initially conceived by Tony Nominee Elizabeth Swados and written by a cast of diverse actors, writers, singers and sketch comedians, Political Subversities is a darkly funny cabaret that finds the humorous and absurd in today’s social and political landscape in the form of sidesplitting sketches, fast and funny monologues and Broadwayworthy songs.
Imagine a Venn diagram of The Daily Show, The Book of Mormon and Saturday Night Live. POLITICAL SUBVERSITIES is there in the middle.
The cast has repeatedly performed on MSNBC, and has been highlighted by The Huffington Post, Bust Magazine, Gawker and numerous other blogs. It was often a Time Out New York’s pick of the week and has sold out return engagements at Joe’s Pub and Ars Nova.
POLITICAL SUBVERSITIES is created and performed by a cast of young, vibrant writers and performers including Todd Dakotah Briscoe (Author of H ow May We Hate You?), Jabari Brisport (These! Paper! Bullets!), Andrew R. Butler (Ars Nova ArtistinResidence), Fernando Contreras (Ghost The Musical First National Tour), Jenna Dioguardi, nicHi douglas (Dance Cartel, The Late Late Show w/ James Corden) , Matthew Robert Gehring (L ate Night with Jimmy Fallon, Louie) , Preston Martin (Pirate La Dee Da at Atlantic Theater Company), Cyndi Perczek (Clown Bar,) Emma TattenbaumFine (writer for “Almost Genius” on t ruTV) and Nicole Weiss (Vocalosity).
Musical Diretion by Ian Axness (Clown Bar, A Ride on the Irish Cream), and Nate Weida .
The show is directed by Andrew Neisler (2 014 Director In Residence at Ars Nova, Director of Drama Desk Nominee Charlatan, NYT Critics Pick Clown Bar) and Annie Tippe (NYT Critics Pick Ghost Quartet, 2015 Drama League Directing Fellow. Recently named Ars Nova’s “Director in Residence” for 2016.
The show also features original songs by Shaina Taub (Old Hats, The Daughters).
