Pioneer Works is pleased to announce the opening of its eponymous bookstore Pioneer Books at 289 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook. Located just steps from the creative center’s converted factory space, the new bookstore will carry an eclectic mix of titles that reflect the innovative cultural programming of Pioneer Works. An opening reception will be held in the new space on Tuesday, June 16 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.

At the opening reception artist Marcel Dzama will sign copies of the current issue of Intercourse, Pioneer Works’ biannual publication that features essays, interviews, poems, and artwork by contributors, many of whom have lectured, taught and/or held exhibitions at Pioneer Works. At 7pm Ted Dodson will read from his forthcoming work, At the National Monument. The current issue of Intercourse features cover artwork by Marcel Dzama; a conversation between musicians Adam Green and Natalie Mering on the evolution of the East Village music scene; a roundtable among Black Mountain College classmates artist Dorothea Rockburne, Ron Gorchov, and mathematician Trueman Machenry; an essay by pioneering hip-hop artist Fab 5 Freddy; and a history of 3D printing techniques during the Civil War.

Following the opening reception, Pioneer Books will host regular programs, such as select book launches and readings.
