Vanderbilt Republic’s 9th Street Phenomenon is proud to present PAGAN POETRY, a solo show by TJ Volonis, Brooklyn-based artist and one of Curate NYC’s 2013 Top Emerging Artists in New York City at the Gowanus Loft.  Tapestry-like wall-mounted copper sculptures and kintsugi (traditional Japanese lacquer and gold repair art) fusion pieces explore humankind’s attempt to synthesize the beauty and perfection of nature.

Volonis’ copper work, which has been included in shows by MOMA and The Brooklyn Museum curators, transforms industrial tubing and joints into exquisitely patterned wall art pieces that radiate burnished warmth and command examination of their complex networks of lines and curves – reflecting the artist’s fascination with the tension between harmony and discord.
