Obsolete Cinema presents Sex, Drugs & Shatner
Mar 22, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm| Free
It’s March, which means it’s time for a ShatShow! Our third annual celebration of all things William Shatner sets phasers to Obsolete with two deep cuts from the Captain’s canon.
In ‘The Explosive Generation’ (1961), a pre-Kirk Shatner plays a sex-ed teacher who encourages his students to turn on and get in touch with each other, riling up parents along the way. With Patty McCormack and Beau Bridges as students defending the great Shat.
Then, tune in for notorious made-for-TV ‘Go Ask Alice’ (1973), a scared-straight tale based on the ‘nonfiction’ novel by one-name wonder Anonymous (aka Beatrice Sparks). Shatner chews scenery as a long suffering father whose daughter turns on and drops out with all the problems you’d expect from a Movie of the Week. With Andy Griffith as a priest and real-life Alice type Mackenzie Phillips doing what you’d expect. (Yes, drugs.)
Plus Shatner trivia, prizes, and more! Boldly beam yourself to Freddy’s, where the highs are high and Happy Hour prices are low.
