NYU Symphony Presents “Works from the Cutting Edge”
Feb 26, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm| Free
On Friday, February 26 at 8 PM, the NYU Symphony will present a concert at the Peter Norton Symphony Space that will showcase artistic collaborations “from the cutting edge.”
Maestro Constantine Kitsopoulos will conduct the program that includes award-winning compositions by NYU Steinhardt students to animations by students from the NYU Tisch Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, the suite from Bernard Herrmann’s groundbreaking score to Psycho, Igor Stravinsky’s epochal Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring) and a world premiere by 2016 NYU Steinhardt Composition Competition winner Alba Torremocha entitled Serendipia.
The 2016 NYU Steinhardt Film Score Composition Competition winners Hyoung-bin Kim, Madeleine Klouda, Nancy Li, James Newberry, and Mihwa Yu have scored animated films by NYU Tisch students and alumni Dan Costales, Jeremy Jensen, Gene Kim and Sophie Li.
As the student works on this concert represent evolution in twenty-first century artistic collaborations, Herrmann’s Psycho and Stravinsky’s Rite represent collaborations that made history in changing the course of art forms and influencing subsequent generations.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The Peter Norton Symphony Space is located at 2537 Broadway at 95th St.
