Join New York Adventure Club on Sunday, June 7 for the first in a two-part Bike Brooklyn Baseball bike ride that explores the history and development of Brooklyn through the lens of our national pastime.
Led by NYAC Walks guide Rich Garr, this bike tour will not only focus on the old Brooklyn Dodgers, but also American history landmarks, street art, and music within the surrounding Brooklyn communities.
Don’t have a bike?
-Ride Brooklyn bike shop is right around the corner and will provide NYAC members with a special $20 4-hour rental.
-Spinlister has been a great new option around NYC for private bike sharing, and an alternative to Citi Bike (the public bike share is economical for yearly members, at about $20 a tour, but about $50 for those without).
Afterwards, we’ll grab some food and drinks at a local pub near our starting point!
What to Expect
The route loops south past the Brooklyn Museum and through Flatbush to the site of Ebbets Field. Here the legacy of Jackie Robinson, Charlie Ebbets, and a host of other early “Trolley-Dodgers” is hidden in plain site.
The ride continues through Prospect Park and the legendary Parade Grounds, makes a few surprise stops along the way, then rolls through the heart of Park Slope to the Old Stone House. Our final food and drink spot will be at McMahon’s Public House, located around the corner from our starting point.
